The Bloop

Today I stumbled upon this wikipedia entry about what is formally known as "The Bloop", which is basically a high frequency, underwater noise that has no traceable origin.  Hmm.  Sounds a lot like my art.  I rather like this connection, as I am frequently considering how my "creatures" come into being, and it is usually THROUGH (not BY) accident, which sounds a lot like THE BLOOP. A big, organic, natural, ACCIDENT. Unless it's aliens.  Which would also be pertinent to my interests. Very much so.

Hmm.  Some installation snapshots of an experiment that I showed for a critique a couple weeks ago.  I have no idea why I decided to make ANYTHING black and white, seeing as how bright, vulgar, garish color is intrinsic to my soul! I do, however, enjoy the dirty pane of glass that separates the object from the ummm...fourth wall? The last piece I had critiqued was quite successful, and I'm really stoked on it, not just because it got great feedback, but because it's so gross.  I wish I had snapped a couple shots of that one as well.  Anyways.  My goal from now on, is to continue to make things that look like alien pornography.  Yes, I think I've just summarized my entire practice.  Which isn't a bad thing, seeing as I'll have to do that when I begin to write the first draft of my grad paper in a few weeks.
